Climate change is already disrupting key areas of our society and natural environment. In Scotland, we are witnessing a rise in extreme weather events and alterations in weather patterns.
However, Scotland-specific climate resilience resources have been created to provide advice and support to help us prepare for the adverse effects of climate change. The Scottish Government is also taking steps to adapt to these specific climate change effects alongside reducing carbon emissions.
In terms of the impact to the screen industry, changes in weather could influence your decisions of where and how to shoot. Therefore, understanding the climate-related risks of where you are shooting and adapting your work to this knowledge in the planning stage could help you avoid losing time and money. Your infrastructure network (energy, water, transport) is a good example of an area to look at with a climate-related risk lens. Be sure to think about how climate-related changes in weather might impact the way you work in this area and who your work with. Also, consider planning for contingencies.
